Summer is starting and so is the heat. Fortunately along with summer so come ice creams. Therefore (out of duty to VeggyMalta.com readers) I tried out Valsoia’s range of dairy free ice creams.
I actually tried the three Valsoia’s tub ice creams currently available locally, yet having a peek at Valsoia’s website I can see that this summer we are in for quite a choice. Yet let me stop drooling over my keyboard and go and make myself another bowl of ice cream and fresh fruit.
These three Valsoia ice creams are available in 500 g tubs. The Gelato Bianco variegato Amarena (which is my favourite out of the three), the Gelato Bianco Cacoa and finally the Gelato Affogato Cacoa. All three ice creams are 100% plant based, gluten free and dairy free. This means they are all good for whoever is lactose intolerant, those who have a dairy allergy, celiacs and those who have a gluten intolerance plus vegetarians and vegans.
Having three kids (plus myself .. which makes four), ice cream is obviously in great demand at home. I used the ice cream to make some milkshakes using Valsoia’s plant milk and got a thumbs up for that. Additionally I like prepared some bowls and jars of ice cream and added a choice of fresh fruit (which is in abundance in summer). It’s a good way how make your kids eat more fresh fruit.
The other good thing about Valsoia’s ice cream is that it isn’t too sinful on your diet. 100 g of ice cream ranges between 144 to 182 kcal depending on the flavour. So you average three scoops of ice cream shouldn’t effect your weighting scales.
How much do Valsoia ice creams cost?
The Gelato Bianco variegato Amarena costs €5.35, the Gelato Bianco Cacao costs €5.35 and the Barley and the Gelato Affogato Cacoa €5.75. Worth mentioning is that Valsoia have a €1 off offer for the month of June on all their ice cream range including the cones.
