Veggy Malta tried out Valsoia Almond Milk. This is one of the non dairy range of milks that Valsoia has.

Whilst I have been a practising vegetarian for over 30 years, I am not a vegan. Interestingly though I have recently chosen to reduce my dairy intake and have switched to non-dairy milk. For those doing the same jump. the switch might be difficult at first. This is because during the first few days one has a tendency to compare. After some time though you will adjust and get used to the non-dairy milk you prefer be it almond, oat, soya or rice. All types of non-dairy milks have a particular taste so try out different ones to check out your favourite.

One of the first things you will notice about the Valsoia Almond milk is it’s thickness. Unlike a number of almond milks which tend to feel somewhat watery and diluted, the Valsoia almond milk is thick and creamy. This is a great plus, especially for those just transitioning from dairy milk to non-dairy. It’s blends well with your morning cereal or muesli. One should remember that almond milk tastes different to dairy milk. This is a plus, especially for those that dislike the taste of regular milk. Valsoia almond milk has a slightly nutty and sweet taste. I use the natural sweetness as a reason to even further decrease the little amount of sugar I take with my tea.

Who should you drink almond milk? Those who are lactose intolerant or have a milk allergy, vegetarians and vegans or whoever wishes to switch to a healthier choice of milk can choose almond milk. As already stated, Valsoia almond milk is vegan as well shown on the package. Other benefits include a low fat content and a source of calcium and vitamins B2, B12, D2, E. The Vitamin E content (which is around half the daily requirement) contains antioxidant qualities that keep your skin healthy, like protecting it from sun damage.

Almond milk is known to be easier to digest than dairy milk. Looking at the label you will notice that there is no cholesterol or saturated fat in the almond milk, plus its is particularly low in sodium. All these qualities make it ideal at keeping a healthy heart. Furthermore 100 ml of Valsoia almond milk has only 25 kcal, which is far lower than regular milk.
