VeggyMalta tries out Valsoia’s Olio di Soia (Soyabean oil). This is another product by Valsoia that is 100% vegan.

The product label states that Valsoia’s Olio di Soia contains “Linolenic acid that helps to maintain normal levels of Cholesterol”.  These are alpha-linolenic acid (Omega 3) and linolenic acid (Omega 6). We are becoming more aware of the benefits and importance of consuming the proper quantities if Omega 3 and Omega 6.  These beneficial effects can be obtained by consuming 10 g of linoleic acid and 2 g of alpha-linolenic acid every day.1 Valsoia state that a dessert spoon (10 g) of Valsoia Soyabean Oil provides 4.85 g of linoleic acid (48.5% of daily requirement) and 0.55 g of alpha-linolenic acid (27% of daily requirement).

Apart from Omega 3 and Omega 6, the oil contains both Vitamin E and Vitamin B6. Actually Valsoia’s Olio di Soia is a good source of Vitamin B6.2 Moreover these vitamins are known to help protect the polyunsaturated fatty acids from oxidation (E) and help the immune system to function normally (B6).

One of the nice things about this product is that it comes in a 1 litre glass bottle rather than a plastic bottle. This actually makes it a presentable bottle to put on table so that whoever wants can drizzle some oil on their salad or food. It is also gluten free.

A bottle of Valsoia’s Olio di Soia costs €3.75. We tried it out on a ftira but it is great also with salads and other foods.
