Whether you are lounging in your backyard or your rooftop, a trip to the beach or a walk in the countryside your skin is going to be sun kissed. Your skin can get damaged if you do not apply the right products and avoid sun exposure during peak hours.
My go-to remedy has always been Aloe Vera, an ingredient from nature providing beneficial soothing, moisturising and softening properties, whilst helping to restore dry and damaged skin.
What does Aloe Vera do for sunburnt skin?
Aloe Vera is perfect to soothe your sunburn. Aloe Vera’s antioxidants, including beta-carotene and vitamins C and E, provide your skin with that much-needed moisture. The Aloe Vera gel from within the plant’s leaves contains lidocaine. This is a natural anaesthetic that helps relieve pain and inflammation.
Aloe Vera gel acts as a protective, non-greasy layer on your sunburnt skin and so thanks to the antioxidant-rich gel, your skin heals more quickly. Hydration from Aloe Vera helps prevent your skin from peeling.
Aloe Vera for Sun Protection
Aloe Vera acts as a barrier thus protecting the skin from further damage whilst replenishes moisture back into it. My natural choice has always been Aloe Pura Sun Lotion that also includes Jojoba oil, Pomegranate, Avocado, and Chamomile. It is mineral based so it will not clog your pores or irritate your skin and no harmful chemicals are added. Safe for babies and children and is Vegan friendly.
Other uses of Organic Aloe Vera Gel:
- Minor Burns – apply after rinsing for at least five minutes under cold running water. Severe burns should be seen to by a healthcare professional.
- Skin rashes and itching
- May Relieve puffiness and dark circles around the eyes
- Use as a shaving gel for sensitive skin
- Perfect for sensitive skin even on the face.

Thank you Helga for this information. I had read about aloe vera being used as after sun but did not know it could be used as a barrier.
Welcome Fiona. Aloe Vera is truly amazing!
