Smokey Sausage Lentil Stew

  • 200g dried red lentils
  • 3 onions
  • 6 garlic
  • 3 red bell peppers
  • 2 cups frozen peas
  • 3 cans chopped tomatoes (400grams)
  • 1.5ltr stock
  • 3tbsp smoked paprika
  • 3 tsp turmeric
  • 1cup wine
  • seasoning
  • cooking oil
  • 1 pack (6 sausages) Linda McCartney Sausages


  • Start by cooking the sausages as per instruction in the oven.
  • Heat oil in pan.
  • Add onion, garlic, bell peppers and spices.
  • Add stock, lentils, chopped tomatoes, wine, the chopped cooked sausages and frozen peas and bring to a boil.
  • Simmer for 20mins, until lentils are tender.
  • Season and serve with grains and more vegetables.

Just realised this recipe doesn’t say how much lentils to use?Also I take it it is for dried lentils. If I was to use tinned lentils I assume I don’t need to simmer it so long?

The lentils are not listed in the Ingredients section. I would like to know the amount please, so I can try this recipe.
