On a daily basis our bodies are exposed to environmental pollutants, pesticides, stress and anxiety, foul air, preservatives and so many more negative influencers. We are breathing, eating, drinking and making contact with these toxins constantly. Detox drinks are known to help the body to reduce inflammation, boost energy, support digestion, cleanse the liver and promote skin health. [1] There is nothing special about detox drinks. They are drinks with ingredients that are known to have detoxification properties. To maximise their effect it is not advisable to add sugar to any detox drink.

Whilst detox drinks are not a magic wand they can have a positive effect on your health. They are one tool in your personal health tool kit. Detox drinks can help reduce fatigue, improve digestion, reduce occasional constipation, boost your immunity system, flush out toxins, promote weight loss, improve overall health and nourish your body. Here are some easy detox drinks that you can create at home.

Cucumber Lemon Detox water drink

Combining the effects of lemon and the anti-inflammatory effects of cucumber. Add some mint for extra flavour. Cut a cucumber into thin slices or wedges. Do the same with a lemon. Add between 5 to 10 mint leaves. Mix with 2 litres of water. Leave in the fridge overnight.

  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 lemon
  • 5 – 10 mint leaves

Lemon Orange Ginger Detox water drink

Cut 10 cm of fresh ginger into slices or wedges. 2 lemons cut into edges. 2 oranges cut into wedges. 10 mint leaves. Add them to 2 litres of water. Leave in the fridge overnight.

  • 10cm of fresh ginger
  • 2 lemons
  • 2 oranges
  • 10 mint leaves

Strawberry Grapefruit & Watermelon Detox water

Cut 15 large strawberries into wedges. Then quarter two grapefruits. A slice of watermelon, cut into cubes. Add them to 2 litres of water. Leave in the fridge overnight.

  • 15 strawberries
  • 2 grapefruits
  • Slice of watermelon

Apple Orange and Rosemary Detox water drink

Cut 1 red apple into thin slices. Cut 2 oranges into wedges. add two small strands of fresh rosemary. Add them to 2 litres of water. Leave in the fridge overnight.

  • 1 red apple
  • 2 oranges
  • Fresh rosemary

Orange Blueberry detox water drink

Cut 2 oranges into wedges. Add a handful of fresh blueberries. You can slightly tear the blueberries if you wish a stronger taste. Add them to 2 litres of water. Leave in the fridge overnight.

  • 2 oranges
  • Blueberries

Raspberry and mint Detox water drink

Simply 2 tablespoons of fresh raspberries (even frozen can work if you cannot find fresh) and 2 tablespoons of fresh mint leaves. Cut a medium sized lime into quarters. Add them to 2 litres of water. Leave in the fridge overnight.
